Condition: Good pre-owned condition with natural denim fading, light signs of wear, raw cut-off hems and a small area of white marking on the front leg. An extraordinary pair of vintage Made in USA Levi's 517 denim shorts, individually customised with a vibrant hand-painted artwork across the back. Originally produced as women's 517 Slim Fit Boot Cut jeans, this pair has been transformed into longline cut-off shorts with raw, naturally frayed hems.

The front retains the timeless appeal of classic blue Levi's denim, featuring traditional five-pocket construction, copper-toned rivets, contrast stitching and a button-and-zip fastening. Turn them around, however, and the personality of this piece truly comes alive.

Across the back is an expressive hand-painted composition featuring two oversized cherry characters with vivid pink and red faces, striking blue eyes, dramatic expressions and bright green stems. Smaller red cherries, layered brushstrokes and bold handwritten lettering complete the design.

The painted lettering reads "Kale to be or not to be", creating a playful, unconventional statement that adds to the artwork's character. The composition stretches across the waistband, rear pockets and both legs, making these shorts particularly striking from behind.
